As you all know, this is a forum for a Greek mythology-canis idea. Some people may stumble in blindly, not knowing anything about mythology. I hope this thread will be able to help you learn, or refresh, your memory.
Mythology is how the viewer sees it. There are many different stories of mythology and you get to choose what you believe to be true.
This thread may start out small, but one day, I hope, it will be a beast! Anyone is welcome to contribute of what is not in this thread. Thank you! (try not to copy and paste though )
If you have trouble finding a certain topic, press ctrl + f and type in a topic (like Zeus, for example). It will highlight what you're looking for. Remember, I'm always trying to add more. Have fun!
Once freed, the Cyclopes build Zeus his mighty lightning bolt and thunder and the Hecatonchires agree to help in the war. Some say it was the bolt while others say it was the Hecatonchires hurling boulders that won the war, so take your pick.
When the war is won, Kronos, along with all the Titans, are confined to Tartarus, a large pit that's almost as old as Chaos. Zeus is made king of the gods and he starts his age of seducing the ladies (or something cool like that). He does split up the universe with his brothers and sisters and they each take their own responsibilities.
In order to fully understand the Titan War, you have to understand how it got started. When the universe was created, there were three beings: Chaos, Gaia, and Eros. Chaos is the universe itself and, well, chaos. Gaia is the goddess of the earth and she is the earth. Eros is the god of love.
As time goes on, Chaos (in some shape or form) gives birth to Erebus and Nyx, the entities of darkness and night. Gaia gives birth to Ouranus, who represents the sky/heavens. Try not to think of how they get a little too friendly with each other later. Gaia then gives birth to the Titans: Oceanus, Coeus, Crius, Hyperion, Iapetus, Theia, Rhea, Mnemosyne, Phoebe, Tethys, and finally Kronos. Other titans, like Atlas, are further generations of Titans.
Gaia also gives birth to 6 giants (known as Hecatonchires, beings with 50 heads and 100 arms). Ouranus despises the giants and decides to imprison them inside the earth, then proceeds to laugh at them. Not a very nice guy. Gaia is upset by this and asks her children, the Titans, to punish Ouranus. There are two major stories to this. One is that Kronos is the only one brave enough to do it, and two, Crius, Hyperion, and Iapetus work together to hold down Ouranus for Kronos.
Kronos uses a flint dagger to cut off Ouranus's no-no zone and throws it in the, uh, ocean. When the ocean swallows up Ouranus's manliness, Aphrodite is said to have been born. Kronos then marries his sister (don't think about it) and she gives birth to the Olympians after some time.
After some time, Ouranus and Gaia reveal to Kronos the prophecy that says his children will overthrow him. So, as stated above, he eats (swallows) his children as they are born. Seems logical. Rhea becomes sick of this scenario and pleads to Gaia to help. Gaia agrees to and just as Zeus is born, hides him away in a cave, and gives a a stone the size of a baby to Kronos and he eats it.
Zeus grows up somewhere in Crete and eventually returns to his father when he's grown up. Apparently, trying to kill your dad is a tradition.
No one quite knows how Kronos released the gods. Some say Gaia tricked him, while others say Zeus gives him a potion that causes him to cough them up. And, with that, the war begins.

Kronos (Chronus or Cronus) was the leader of the first generation of titans, the children of Ouranus, the sky, and Gaia, the earth. Kronos was the lord of time and he wielded a scythe. He had one problem though. He feared a prophecy that said one of his children would seek to overthrow him. In fear of this, he swallowed each child he had as soon as they were born. Rhea, his wife, eventually grew tired of the charade and hid away her son, Zeus, when he was born, and tricked Kronos into eating a rock instead.
Zeus rose and did indeed overthrow his father, but not before freeing his siblings. The titan war broke out and proceeded to rage on for ten years without seeming to waver. Zeus then receives a prophecy: Free the cyclopes and the Hecatonchires and he will win the war. Winning s the best, right? So, that's exactly what he does.Once freed, the Cyclopes build Zeus his mighty lightning bolt and thunder and the Hecatonchires agree to help in the war. Some say it was the bolt while others say it was the Hecatonchires hurling boulders that won the war, so take your pick.
